It’s summer, it’s getting warm, it’s time for festival fun…
Avid Milk Drunk readers will know my love of all things luxury. I can’t help it, I’m a Virgo, we’re fussy selective.
It’s probably true that I’ve had too much of a good thing and in the process have become a little bit of a stickler for nice things. I know it’s terribly uncool to admit that, but I can’t help it.
I’m more ‘pampering’ than camping, more five-star than converse all-star, more canapés and proseco than spit and sawdust!
One of the downsides being that I have missed out on a number of fun that comes with being rigid. And that includes festivals.
I’d have loved to have seen Oasis back in the day at Glastonbury, but the thought of those toilets… I’d sell my left kidney for a ticket to Coachella, but the mere thought of camping leaves me in a cold sweat.
I’ve always been a fan of the Fringe because it doesn’t involve camping, and one-day ticket to V Festival have been a saviour in the past, and of course thanks to the BBC I can watch Glastonbury from the comfort of my Laura Ashely sofa. What do you mean that’s not the spirit of Glasto!
For the rest of you though, I’m a weeny bit envious that you can pack a small bag, get in your camper van and enjoy the great outdoors.
Which leads me to summer festivals. Indeed it’s that time of the year again, so why not indulge. Just promise to send me a postcard, or tweet me a picture @milkdrunkdiary with the hashtag #NoToiletRollDontCare or #HappyCamperInTheRain so I can feel like I’m there!
Anyway, my pick of the best Family Friendly festivals to decamp to this summer…
- The Glasgow Science Festival, Scotland (9 June)
- The Isle of Wight Festival, Newport (9-12 June)
- Glastonbury, Somerset (22-26 June)
- Latitude, Suffolk (17-20 July)
- Camp Bestival , Dorset (28-31 July)
- The Edinburgh Fringe, Scotland (5-29 August)
